The Poetry of Decay

The decay of buildings sparks the imagination. While some view incomplete or collapsing building as unsightly or unsettling, others believe they add more interest to a building than the idealized urban fabric. The scars on the building serve as mental stimulants. They pose questions, about memories and imaginations of a foregone past, and of prospective futures. They serve as a visual reminder of our own transience by depicting the passage of time and the inevitable collapse. The voids give the viewer the freedom to fill them with meaning and imagination and to interpret them however they see fit. The design symbolizes fall and rebirth, expressing both cut and continuity.
