WALKSCAPES
Objects can be ‘studied’ and analyzed by well-structured methods. Studying is mainly a goal-oriented accumulation of knowledge. ‘Learning’, on the contrary, is based on experience; the process of obtaining knowledge by doing, walking, seeing or feeling things. As designers we use both, objective and subjective information to underpin our design decisions. Although the experience of urban conditions might be subjective, they may highlight important transitions of urban spatiality, architectural culture and social behavior. In this course, the focus is about developing skills in analysis by observation and implementation of different methods, scales and dimensions: film (4D), model making (3D), drawing (2D) and text (1D).
