In this studio, we address housing as a spatial justice issue that demands multi-scale social and spatial intervention. Through this lens, students engaging with theoretical frameworks on the right to adequate housing create new living concepts and examine how urban systems can support integrated care, as well as the design of adequate housing models that address the needs of different target groups within youth populations. The studio operates through interdisciplinary collaboration, incorporating empathy as a core design competency by integrating meaningful participatory settings with societal partners to develop its projects. Students formulate an urban neighbourhood vision of interventions, design a brief, and create detailed designs at both the neighbourhood and building scales for specific locations in the city of Eindhoven and/or its surroundings. The emphasis is on creating spatial conditions that enable both care and housing to function as interconnected urban systems.
