Multidisciplinary project
The Multidisciplinary Project is a project in the third year of the Bachelor of the department of Built Environment and the first encounter with the world of integrated design. Today’s building demands have become increasingly complex which necessitates our department to prepare students for a practice in which they are ready to cooperate in design teams in close interaction with all disciplines. The multidisciplinary assignment is a practical assignment designed to train students in solving problems with a high level of complexity. An additional goal is teaching students how to cooperate in a team in which every student takes responsibility for a specific domain.

M4FERRO – Merel van Casteren, Max Uijlenhoet, Jeroen Bothmer, Anna van den Berg, Sam Rijnvos, Wies Pruijn
M4FERRO will be redeveloped into an area where innovation and creation connect. Social spaces coexist with the work environment, creating a social and practical place where all the user’s needs are met.
VERADA – M4H – Ramon de Vries, Tiffany He, Aaditi Singh, Ka Hao Cheung, Weihao Sun, Stephany Giel
Located in Rotterdam, MH4 offers long-lasting values through its rejuvenation by making of quality places. This is achieved by creating a vibrant and healthy urban environment through sustainable developments. Essentially, that is making multi-functional new buildings and renovating the Ferro Terrain in harmony with the neighboring districts.
FERRO DISTRICT – Alexander Kok, Eduards Lasmanis, Isabel Eversteijn, Noortje Wilms, Thijs Schutten, Bo van Schuppen
In this proposal, the area is envisioned as a vibrant neighborhood with a lively square shaped by carefully redeveloped industrial buildings, including the iconic ferro dome. Its open plan is used to its full potential by accommodating a large events venue. An additional building, enclosed by a transparent façade reveals its structure and references the context in subtle ways while also creating a lot of flexible use space for office and commercial use.
CENTRAL MAKERS DISTRICT – Sven Vreuls, Jennifer Start, Tijana Cúlum, Kas Hermens, Amea van Schaik, Rik Hadders.
The area in between Schiedam and Rotterdam will be converted into a new hotspot for the surrounding neighborhoods. This hotspot is focused on students, starters and young families with the emphasis on the makers.
FERRO DOME FACTORY – Zeynep Yelken, Kalina Bakardzhieva, Lars van Rooij, Sybrin Hendrikx, Sofia Markson, Nienke van Wegberg
Ferro Dome Factory transforms Rotterdam’s abandoned harbour into a vibrant district offering a combination of culture, technology, and sustainable office space. The social, architectural, and sustainability aspects turn it into a focal point for collaboration and generation of ideas.
