In this seminar students explored how a drawing or painting manipulates a flat plane to create a three-dimensional space. Drawing in architectural design processes is used in a myriad of ways to enable architects to deal with the complexity of spatial reasoning and design (Schaeverbeke, Aarts). And as Robin Evans states: ‘Drawings are a vital mediator between that which can be imagined and that which can be built’, there is the manipulator of space and the observer, both playing a role in how these images are conceived and perceived.
